National Level - Award of Merit

Grace Thorpe at Tuckahoe Middle School in Photography “Every Day is a New Day”

National Awards of Merit: 5 per grade division of each arts category

  • Bronze medal and certificate
  • Recognition in the traveling art exhibit and online gallery

  • 2017 winning works will previewed and displayed digitally at the National PTA Convention.

  • Works will be first revealed in a special exhibit at the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, DC. The January 2018 showcase date will be announced soon!

Membership in the Virginia PTA provides the opportunity to participate in the National PTA Reflections program which encourages students to explore the arts and express themselves by giving positive recognition for their artistic efforts. Since it was founded in 1969 by Mary Lou Anderson, millions of students have benefited from this program.

Reflections Awards Program Students in Pre-K through grade 12 create theme-based artwork in dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography or visual arts.

PLEASE NOTE: Only the state level of the Reflections program will use the online registration tool this year. All local unit, council, and district PTAs are NOT required to use this registration process. ALL forms accompanying student entries MUST be COMPLETELY filled out.

Visual Arts 3D expansion! The visual arts category allows students to enter three-dimensional artworks in addition to the traditional 2D entries. Click here to view more information regarding this expansion.
